Electronics I

Price: $50
Length: 2 hrs
Certification Class: Basic Electronics Workbench
Requirements:
Ages 15yr+ or 5-14yr with registered guardian.

A beginner’s entry-level class for electronics.
This class teaches the basic principles of electronics and soldering through a hands-on course. In this course students will learn the basics in electronics and the tools used when working with electronics. Students will be introduced to current, voltage, and resistance. Students will be introduced to the basics of operating a soldering iron, multi-meter and power supply tools used with electronics. Participants will assemble a simple kit. This class will fulfill your electronics training to activate your membership card for use of the Basic Electronics Workbench.

Electronics II

Price: $50
Length: 2 hrs
Certification Class: Basic Electronics Workbench
Requirements:
Ages 15yr+ or 5-14yr with registered guardian.

A beginner’s, entry-level class for AC electronics that can be used for Electronics Bench 1 certification.In this course students will learn the basics in AC electronics and the tools used when working with electronics. Students will be introduced to current, voltage, inductance and capacitance. This class will work with soldering irons, meters, through-whole boards, and will touch on surface mount soldering. Students will assembly an electronic project requiring measurement and troubleshooting.

Electronics III

Price: $50

Certification Class: The Advanced Electronics Workbench
Prerequisites: Electronics I & II
Requirements:
Ages 15yr+ or 10-14yr with registered guardian.

This course is a continuation of Electronics I & II, taking students into a deeper understanding of electronics and circuit testing. Includes a discussion of instruments, test techniques and other related topics. This class will train students on the proper use of power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators and other instruments. After completion of this class students will have a better understanding of Advanced Instrumentation and will receive access to the Advanced Electronics Workbench.

Raspberry Pi I (Setup)

Price: $100 (Includes RPi starter kit)
Length: 2 hrs
Requirements:
Ages 15yr+ or 5-14yr with registered guardian.

In this course students will learn how to assemble a Raspberry Pi (RPi) kit into a working microcomputer. By assembling the kit, load the Raspbian operating system using NOOBS loader. Students will be introduced the concept of desktop computer/laptop/tablet – PC/Mac/Droid, to microcomputer– Raspberry PI verses microcontrollers – Arduino with hardware interfaces, the Raspbian operating system, the GUI taskbar, explore the Main Menu, and the terminal console. This class will provide the student a Raspberry Pi-3 starter kit. At the end of the session will have a working Raspberry Pi to take with them and used in other DaVinci Maker Labs classes on programming the Raspberry Pi and electrical project design and development.

Surface Mount PCB Assembly

Price: $100
Length: 4 hrs
Certification Class: Electronics Bench 2
Prerequisites: Electronics I & II
Requirements:
Ages 15yr+ or 10-14yr with registered guardian.

This class teaches the principles of surface mount soldering through a hands-on course. Students will be introduction to the operation of surface mount soldering equipment and techniques. Participants will assemble a simple project kit. For a more in-depth knowledge of electronics and the tools used please consider signing up for Electronics I & II. This class will fulfill your electronics training to activate your membership card for the Advanced Electronics Workbench and equipment.
